2019 has come and gone and we don’t know about you but it seems like yesterday that we were ringing in the new year! 2019 has been a special year, we’ve learned a lot about ourselves and have tapped into our artistic sides a little more to create unique and different content.
Yup, you guessed it: here some of our favorite moments of 2019, in no particular order. We hope you enjoy our “2019 at a glance” post. If you have any memorable moments this year that involve Golden Flowers, let us know!
Playing around with Pantone Colors
We started off the year feeling inspired by Pantone’s color of the year “Living Coral”. We designed some bouquets that also incorporated other colors we thought complimented this beautiful coral tone. It was a team effort! We got Annie and Kareena in sales involved by having them design beautiful bouquets and then our marketing team did a photoshoot and even a video! This was fun shoot where we got to play around with different textures and colors and we thought it came out beautifully! We’re so excited for Pantone to announce the 2020 color so we can start designing! If you missed out on the post and video you can check them out here.
Evolving “Grown to Last” by Golden Flowers
This was probably one of those “aha” moments some people dream about. When we decided to give our image a bit of a facelift, we didn’t realize that it would start a journey of self-reflection and discovery. You’ve already seen our boxes and our sleeves so you know we did a bit of rebranding and introduced the concept of “Grown to Last” by Golden Flowers. This rebranding was our promise to you and your customers that the flowers you bought from us were high-quality, consistent and long-lasting. We then realized that there was so much more to this “Grown to Last” idea that we needed to explore. The most important part of “Grown to Last” is the cultivation of our partnerships with the farms, our employees, our customers and even consumers. We’re in the business of helping people express feelings with flowers and creating and maintaining these “Grown to Last” relationships is our TOP priority. Check out our post about this evolution here.
Participating in the 2019 Miami Corporate Run
It was our first year participating in the annual corporate run held in Miami and it was a great success! We had never done anything like this before and really enjoyed the afternoon. We designed some t-shirts to give out to the team. It was a great team-bonding experience and something that was enjoyable for all. Some of us walked, while others ran and once the race was done, we had some well-deserved beer and stayed around for fun activities. All in all, it was a memorable moment and something we’re pretty sure we’ll be repeating in 2020!
Flying High at Proflora (and other show highlights)
2019 was the year we decided to showcase our flowers at shows in a different way. Whether you posed in front of our flower wall at IFE or checked out our floral arch at WFFSA, we wanted to make beautiful floral installations that could allow for your show experience to be more enjoyable.
The most fun we had was at Proflora in Bogota, Colombia. We built a hot-air balloon with a beautiful floral basket. People from all over came to say hi and had the opportunity to take pictures and boomerangs pretending to have just landed at one of the farms, which was the backdrop to the hot air balloon. As many of you know, shows can be stressful, especially for those who are organizing the booths, but this year we had the opportunity to work with great people like Olga Castillo who designed both our IFE and WFFSA booths. And even when things wouldn’t go as planned, we rallied as a team and made sure everything turned out perfect. Stay tuned for next year to see what we have in store for you, you'll want to visit our booth for sure!
Partnering with La Casita Foundation
As part of our “Grown to Last” evolution and commitment, we saw how the farms had amazing services and programs for their employees and we were proud of that. We asked ourselves "what about our community in Miami?" We wanted to get involved with a local organization and create an ongoing partnership that wasn’t just about donating money. This is where La Casita Foundation came into play.
At the end of 2018, we began talks with this organization that is run by women and helps women in need. La Casita Foundation offers meals and weekly workshops for women to develop skills that can help them start their own business or get employed. We sponsor the floral workshop held every Thursday and Saturday. With the help of some amazing volunteers, these women are learning everything from floristry basics like using chicken wire to creating flower crowns and floral details for weddings. It has been an honor to get to know both the volunteers and the women who attend the workshops. We could not be happier to partner with an organization that is empowering women through floral design. Let’s see what 2020 brings for La Casita Foundation!
