Memorial Day 2020 came and went, and for us in Miami, it was a very rainy, gloomy day. It got us thinking about how we could still enjoy the upcoming patriotic holidays—even if it does not include a big get together or being outside.

Since we don’t know when things will get back to “normal” we decided to create some patriotic inspiration for 4th of July and Labor Day. The beauty of this is that you can celebrate these holidays at home with whoever you are quarantining. Also, an added plus is that you can play around with some florals for different looks and feels for your patriotic bouquets AND get some much-needed floral therapy while you are at it.

For these looks we went for some simple patriotic staples with a mix of textures and some novelty product:

  • Blue Hydrangeas
  • Freedom Roses
  • Red Spray Roses
  • Gypsophila
  • Blue Tinted Gypsophila
  • Red Tinted Gypsophila
  • Dusty Miller
  • Red and Blue Tinted Carnations
  • Red Hypericum
  • White Alstroemeria
  • Eryngium
  • White Tinted Solidago

You can play around with different vases and arrangements. We went for a rustic look, incorporating small metal buckets. We used these buckets to create a “woodsy” arrangement incorporating the dusty miller, tinted patriotic carnations, red hypericum, red spray roses and white alstroemeria. The red spray roses, dusty miller and white alstroemeria will fill up the bucket nicely because of their volume.

If you want something a bit more traditional, use a longer vase and add some beautiful blue hydrangeas, red roses, white tinted solidago, eryngium and white alstroemeria. The eryngium will give this arrangement a bit of texture while still maintaining a classic look. You can also add some tinted gypsophila to glass bottles for some great accent pieces.

Looking for a fun food project without much hassle? Make some hot dogs in the oven and create a “hot dog bar” with different sauces and toppings. You can have the traditional add-ons such as ketchup, mayo, cheese and mustard or get creative and a bit international with some kimchi, avocado, pico de gallo, scallions and even some homemade siracha mayo.

If you’re feeling a little bit more ambitious we invite you to try out this awesome and fun “Pico de ‘Roni Loaded Fries” by The Hungry Post. These tex-mex inspiration on a fun classic like loaded fries will have your family wanting more. Here’s what you’ll need:
