A year ago, we came up with the idea to create this blog, a space where we could showcase what we love and what inspires us. Ultimately, the Golden Blog became a place where we got to have fun with everything we love, especially flowers. This Thanksgiving, we are grateful for you: our friends, family, customers and followers who have made this all possible. We hope you’ve enjoyed reading the blog as much as we enjoy creating each and every post.

It really never gets old to celebrate this day with our friends and family. This year we decided to put a more casual spin on the American classic. If you’re looking for a more formal setting inspo, check out our Thanksgiving in Miami post from last year!

It’s not that we don’t like the white tablecloth type of event; sometimes, it’s fun to take it easy, to relax and enjoy each other’s company and not worry so much about the little details. We also don’t mind cooking for 10-20 people each year, but there are times when you end up spending Thanksgiving with a smaller group of people, either because of circumstances or choice. Whatever the case may be, you should never go a year without a celebration.

This year, we decided to enjoy the festivities with Hot Cider our third featured bouquet series part of our Fall Collection.  The combination of lavender alstroemeria and roses with orange tones and fall novelty pompons works perfectly for this seasonal floral series.

Since we were going for a casual, rustic table setting, we used some simple plates and bowls from CB2. You can check out some other seasonal options here. You can even mix and match your dinnerware for an even more eccentric look!

For food we went simple and classic. We didn’t have time to cook our own turkey so instead we ordered one from a local favorite: Oasis Café in Key Biscayne. (FYI: their empanadas and cuban croquetas are game changers, you can thank us later!) We decorated our turkey with extra roses and pompons and added some fruit as well to give it a finishing touch.

For our sides, we went with grilled asparagus and pecorino cheese (we found this recipe that includes a poached egg, yum!), roasted yellow squash, potatoes, carrots and corn on the cob.

Dessert is always a MUST for us so we baked an apple pie and bought some mini fruit, chocolate and key lime tarts!

With all of this food and beautiful flowers it’s no wonder this holiday is a favorite around here. Happy Thanksgiving!
